World Challenge appoints ex-teachers in key roles to develop business

World Challenge, the UK’s leading school expedition provider, continues to invest in the future with two new appointments of ex-teachers in key roles within the business.Pat Milston takes up the new role of schools & customer relations director and Neil Kimberley becomes sales & marketing director.
Pat Milston, schools & customer relations director, who has been with World Challenge for over five years and was previously in the teaching profession as both a head of KS4 and a deputy head of 6th Form, explains,
“I am delighted to take up this opportunity within World Challenge. I firmly believe in the values of Learning Outside the Classroom, especially for children who may find academic study more difficult. A World Challenge Expedition is a tremendously powerful tool in the development of young people, turning them into adults ready for university life or future successful employment.”
Neil Kimberley has been associated with World Challenge since 1993 when he launched his first school expedition to Morocco whilst teaching Geography at a school in North London. After two years at the ‘coal face’ leading expeditions and instructing he joined the company full-time in 1999.
He adds,
“There aren’t many jobs with a level of satisfaction like this –knowing you are providing a life-changing experience to a student that will make a difference to them socially, physically, mentally is a privileged role. I have also been fortunate enough to continue to lead expeditions when allowed out from behind the desk, most recently leading our inaugural School Leader training expedition to the Atlas Mountains. The rare combination of being a former customer, leader and now employee ensures I can fully understand the needs of the teachers and students when deciding on an expedition.”
Nigel Miller, managing director – World Challenge adds,
“Having seen World Challenge as a customer, an Expedition Leader (and as a parent in Pat’s case) ensures our key contacts are uniquely placed to understand all the benefits and considerations a school faces when planning for an expedition. We have always believed that if we are to deliver effective expeditions to teachers, we need to understand the issues they face in their daily lives and so I am delighted that we have Pat and Neil on-board to assist us with this.”
