Summer fundraising advice
The summer holidays are nearly here so it’s a great time to start thinking about all the fundraising events that you can do whilst you have a break from school. It is very tempting to put this to the back of your mind during the holidays but this is a perfect time to really get to grips with organising some great events.Earn a bit of extra cash
Take advantage of the extra time during your holidays and take a short break from studying to earn some extra cash. Offer your services to family members and neighbours. Make a flyer and put it through letter boxes and up in your local news agent. Some of the things you can do are:
- Babysitting
- Dog walking
- Car washing
- Gardening
- Lawn mowing
- Food shopping
- Window cleaning
- Wheelie bin cleaning
You could also make full use of the spare time and help your parents or neighbours have a clear out of unwanted items. You could ask for donations that you can sell on eBay, at local fairs or at car boot sales.
Garden party
If you have a big garden, why not think about holding a garden party with a BBQ and refreshments? These have proved very successful in the past and are often great fun too!
Cleaning golf clubs
A great idea that has worked in the past is to approach a golf course and ask if you can set up an area to clean people's clubs for a fee. This has proved very popular and a great money spinner in the past. Alternatively you could offer yourself as a caddy during games. Not only will you raise some money but you will improve your fitness for expedition too!!
Bag packing
Bag packing is also a fantastic way to raise funds for your expedition. Even though there is no agreed age limit this will be down to the discretion of the supermarket manager. You will need to contact the supermarkets directly either on the phone or in writing. Their telephone numbers and addresses can usually be found in your local directory or online. Explain to them why you want to bag pack and what your aims are - again it is up to the manager of the store, so sound really enthusiastic and tell them all about your World Challenge expedition! Over the holidays you could ask if you could make this a regular occurrence!
