The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom invites you to join us for one of our national conference and continuous professional development events on the 6th 2010.
Learning outside the classroom is a powerful tool for teaching and learning offering exciting, inspiring, hands-on learning experiences that motivate, engage and support young people. LOtC is proven to raise attainment and tackle societal issues such as health, anti-social behaviour, truancy and well being. If you'd like to find out more about LOtC and/or how to incorporate LOtC into the curriculum, these events will offer you the support, ideas and resources to do just that.
LOtC Making it Happen – An alternative approach to teaching & learning
DATE: 6th December
AUDIENCE: For teachers, headteachers, governors, (Early Years, Primary, Secondary) LOtC practitioners and other interested parties
A day of inspiring talks, resources, networking opportunities and CPD workshops to help teachers plan, deliver and evaluate LOtC activities. Mick Brookes, former General Secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers and a leading voice in education will open the event. Delegates will also hear from a broad range of speakers including head teachers from exemplar schools and Robin Hammerton, well respected HMI to Ofsted.
We have a fantastic range of CPD workshops to choose from including Preparing for visits to the wild lead by the RSPB and Learning through Landscapes' School Grounds - LOtC on your back doorstep to the Practical application of NLP in outdoor learning and the OEAP’s Outdoor Learning Cards. The LOtC Awards for Excellence & Innovation 2010 in association with TUI Education Division

The winners of the national and regional LOtC Awards 2010 will be revealed at this drinks reception, dinner and Awards Ceremony. The LOtC Awards celebrate the commitment of schools and youth organisations to providing a curriculum which incorporates innovative and creative approaches to learning. Our special guest for the evening will be Bill Tidy MBE, TV & radio presenter and cartoonist.
