Acclimatisation phase
Spend a few days acclimatising in Leh, walking up to hilltop temples and palaces
Trekking phase
At 6400m, Kang Yatze is the highest peak in India's central Ladakh region, and a formidable challenge for the fittest teams. Kang Yatze I is a challenging technical climb, but 6200m Kang Yatze II is a more accessible trekking peak, and reaching the top of Kang Yatze II will be the goal for this expedition. With jagged snowy peaks, stark dry valleys, majestic 5000m passes and scenic hill top monasteries strewn with prayer flags, the scenery of Ladakh is as colourful and interesting as the trek is challenging, making for an exciting Himalayan adventure well suited to a strong and motivated team.
Project phase
Within a 3 week expedition there is no time for a project, but for a 4 week expedition teams will be able to live and work in a traditional Ladakhi village, helping to renovate the local school.
Rest and relaxation phase
As well as the opportunity for a thrilling day of white water rafting in Ladakh, once the trek is over teams can travel from Leh to Delhi, via the Himalayan towns of Manali and Shimla. Visit the famous Taj Mahal, explore Old Delhi and pick up some bargains in the markets.
