India (Ladakh)
Introduction to the India (Ladakh) expedition |
|
| India’s hugely varied culture, religion, geography and history make it one of the most fascinating and diverse countries in the world. The Ladakh region, known as the land of high passes, is tucked away in the north of the Indian Himalaya. Ladakh is home to a mountain people with very limited communication links for much of the year and a strong Buddhist culture. Take a look at the expedition diary for India Ladakh, written by the Expedition Leader. |

Our Challengers loved… The two day journey to Leh on the second highest motorable road in the world, passing through spectacular scenery and staying in a tented village. Spending a couple of days acclimatising and exploring Leh Old Town, visiting local temples and Leh Palace. A highlight for many is taking part in a community project in a local village school. The trek shows teams just how beautiful and remote Ladakh is and fulfils them with a huge sense of wonder and achievement. All teams love the experience of seeing one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the famous Taj Mahal. |
