Successful start to our 2011 Challenger Events

The Event season kicks off with our first Challenger Abseil!

The Manchester Challenger Abseil at the Velodrome marked the start of the Fundraising Challenger Events season and is a brand new venue for 2011. On Saturday 5th March, Challengers were taken along a walkway in the roof of the building and then abseiled the 40m down into the centre of the arena. A total of 72 Challengers took part with everyone abseiling and they raised a fantastic combined total of £18,000 towards their expedition.

Here are a few quotes from the day:

“It was great! All the World Challenge staff were lovely and it’s not as scary as it looks!”
Eleanor Old, Lancaster Girls Grammar, Ethiopia

“It was a great experience and helped conquer my fear of heights”
Daniel O’Brien, Fazerkley High, 2012

£22,000 raised at our highest Challenger Abseil venue

On Sunday 6th March, 90 Challengers abseiled the Titan Crane in Clydebank, Scotland. For the second year running this venue was used and every Challenger conquered their fears and abseiled the 150ft freefall descent.

A few quotes from Scotland

“Jenny Barnes raised a total of £1363 just for the abseil! A great day but absolutely freezing cold!!!it was a great day, however Jenny says NEVER AGAIN!!!”
