Duke of Edinburgh Overview

World Challenge will guide you through all the steps required to fulfil the expedition section of a DofE programme. Below is an overview of the process. 

The following pages include more detail on each of these elements.

Destinations: Argentina, Brazil South, Brazil Amazonas, Malawi, Namibia and Norway. We have appointed a specific Expedition Planning Manager to work on accredited expeditions to ensure they fulfil all requirements.

Team numbers
: The team must be between 4 and 7 Challengers. Multiple groups are acceptable.

Application: Upon application the school will need to indicate on the form its intention to accredit the expedition to a DofE programme, concurrently agreeing to the destination and team numbers.

Training: There are two training aspects that need to be undertaken by the team before the actual expedition.

1) Expedition Training which will be included on our Training Expedition (TE) which takes place at our outdoor centre’s around the UK

2) UK Practice Expedition which will be organised by the school or participant.

In-country: The qualifying expedition phase in-country can be fulfilled through any of the specific World Challenge expeditions that have been planned to adhere to the criteria set out by the DofE.

Supervision: All leaders of these expeditions have attended an accredited Assessor course delivered by the DofE.
