WHO are ClimateCare?
Our project partners ClimateCare are experts in carbon offsetting. What’s more, the projects we fund with them are being accredited by Gold Standard – an independent foundation supported by more than 50 charities, including WWF. Gold Standard certifies that our carbon offsetting projects are good for people as well as the environment.WHAT is carbon offsetting?
Carbon offsetting is one of the ways to counter damage to the environment caused by the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) from specific activities such as driving a car, flying or heating a building. For every tonne of CO2 emitted, carbon offset donations fund the removal of an equivalent tonne of CO2 elsewhere, through energy efficiency or renewable energy projects.
World Challenge endeavours to ensure that all of our expeditions have a minimum or positive impact on the environment. This includes business operations and expeditions in both the UK and overseas.

TUI Travel funded projects (exclusive)
ZambiaIn Zambia, the hydro-power plant is bringing clean and affordable power to communities, removing their dependence on diesel generators that are expensive and harmful to the environment. The new hydro-powered electricity is reaching schools, orphanages and a local hospital. At the hospital, the power is helping doctors carry out operations day and night, saving lives.
India
The Earth Stove project in northern India, is improving the lives of local people by helping local food stall owners to replace their traditional stoves with Earth Stoves, which are cleaner and cheaper to run.
Turkey & India
Carbon offsetting donations are supporting the construction of wind turbines in Turkey and India.
