Challenger events - nearly 1 million raised!

Amazing Challenger event facts

Since 2008 nearly 4300 Challengers have taking part in Challenger events raising a combined total from sponsorship of £960,750. The average amount raised by a Challenger is £225!

Our Challenger events have gone from strength to strength since they began and are a great way for Challengers to fundraise without the added stress of having to organise the event. All they need to worry about is sorting transport to and from the event and we plan the rest! In 2011 we want to make the Challenger events bigger and better than ever before.

New venues for World Challenge fundraising events
Our Events team spent the summer researching new venues for abseils and runs as well as taking on board all the feedback we had received from parents and Challengers who had attended events in 2010.
Some new exciting venues for 2011 are a Scottish Challenger Run which is taking place at Beecraigs Country Park near Edinburgh. In order that some of the North Eastern schools can also take part in this we have organised a later start time than the North and South runs so that we can hopefully attract some of the Challenger teams from Newcastle and Durham.

It is worth considering taking part if you are going on an expedition where you will be trekking or climbing a mountain, your fitness levels are really important and training for a Challenger Run is a great way to make sure you are fully prepared!

Challenger fundraising abseils
We have also found some great new exciting abseil venues – the Dromore viaduct in County Down, the Manchester velodrome and Mannings Water Tower in Poole. If you are taking part in a Challenger Abseil, why not ask a company to sponsor you and wear a t-shirt with their company name on it!
