Acclimatisation in Brazil
Serra dos Orgaos, Itatiaia, Pedra do Bau: Beautiful national parks between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo made up of alpine meadows and rainforest, with numerous paths passing lakes, rivers and waterfalls.
Marumbi National Park and Honey Island: A series of short treks that will take you into the Atlantic rainforest, to the top of mountains to see the sea, as well as by boat to neighbouring islands.
Main trekking phase in Brazil
Serra da Bocaina National Park: The popular Gold Trail route takes you from old gold mines down to the coast passing through spectacular scenery. Trekking here is for up to five days through virgin forest, passing powerful waterfalls and local farms.
Parque Nacional Da Serra Dos Orgaos and Itatiaia: Serra dos Orgaos National Park contains over 118 sq km of mountainous terrain situated between Teresopolis and Petropolis. It is a mixture of rainforest and open grassland with numerous peaks ranging in height from 1500m to 2500m. As a result it is regarded as the trekking and climbing capital of Brazil and is perfect for the more adventurous team. It is also possible to complete an acclimatisation trek here.
Project work in Brazil
Teams can participate in a number of different projects throughout Brazil that offer wonderful opportunities for cultural exchange. Projects range from working in schools, community centres and orphanages to environmental projects. Conservation projects are also possible. Most projects are in south Brazil
Rest and relaxation
The team can choose to relax on one of the superb beaches that Brazil offers, such as Copacabana, or visit the amazing Iguaçu Falls.
Pantanal
This vast area of swamp lies on the border between Bolivia and Brazil. Teams can spend a few days here viewing the unique and fascinating wildlife.
