Acclimatisation in Brazil
Short treks in South Brazil: Trek through alpine meadows, rainforest, grassland or finger-like peaks in one of the national parks around Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
Jungle: Fly straight to Manaus where you will complete your acclimatisation in the jungle, learning the basic skills required to survive in this challenging environment.
Main trekking phase
Amazon: Setting out from the busy jungle capital of Manaus, explore the unique Amazonian ecosystems from the river. You will travel past the famous meeting of the waters and deeper into the Manuri area. Through the days you will explore the shores and small creeks in the motorised canoes on shorter trips. You will be sleeping in hammocks at night and by day will be learning jungle survival skills from the local guide.
South Brazil: Start in or return to South Brazil to complete a main trek in a national park. Options include Serra dos Orgaos or Itatiatia for a more challenging trek in higher mountains and finger-like rock formations or explore the famous Gold Trail, following the route of the slaves from the colonial era.
Project work in Brazil
Teams can participate in a number of different projects throughout Brazil that offer wonderful opportunities for cultural exchange. Projects range from working in schools, community centres and orphanages to environmental projects. Conservation projects are also possible. Projects in the Amazon and in South Brazil are possible.
Rest and relaxation
The team can choose to relax on one of the superb beaches that Brazil offers, such as Copacabana. There is a possible opportunity for dolphin watching in Manaus and white water rafting near Rio de Janeiro.
